In February, Jay and , with our boys, had the incredible opportunity to visit La Candelilla Micromill in Costa Rica. We spent time walking the farm, talking with the farmers, and cupping coffees from one of the country's most respected specialty coffee producers.
La Candelilla was one of the very first micromills established in Tarrazú. It was founded by a small group of local coffee producers during one of the most challenging periods in Costa Rica's coffee industry. Today, the micromill is still collaboratively owned by the same farming families who grow and deliver their coffee, creating complete transparency and exceptional quality from farm to export.
This particular lot was grown by Don Ricardo Hernandez Naranjo, one of La Candelilla's founding producers. After decades of growing coffee, his knowledge and dedication are evident in every cup.
For us, this coffee is especially meaningful. We stood in the fields where it was grown, met the people behind it, and watched firsthand the care that goes into every harvest. Being able to bring those beans back to Steinbach and roast them here at Stone City Coffee Roasters is something we don't take for granted.
Every bag is a direct connection between the farmers who grew this coffee and the people enjoying it here at home. We hope you taste not only the beautiful notes of praline, caramel, and sweetness, but also the story behind every cup.
